First soloshow of Ulrike Bolenz in Brussels

Is the digital body an extension of the real human being, or a new entity?

Artist Ulrike Bolenz presents her new exhibition, Real Humans, in which she explores the boundaries between humanity, technology and image formation. With a distinctive visual language and use of various materials – ranging from tracing paper and oil paint to photographic techniques – Bolenz reflects on the position of humans in an increasingly digital world.

In ‘Real Humans’, visitors are challenged to think about the relationship between body and identity. How real are we in an age in which virtual representations and artificial intelligence increasingly influence our perception of reality? In her work, Bolenz exposes the tension between the fragility of human existence and the power of technological imagination.

The exhibition brings together a layered and poetic oeuvre in which transparency, vulnerability and power are in constant dialogue. With her characteristic experimental style, Bolenz creates a space that touches the audience both emotionally and intellectually.
